Bulgarian Sea Resorts

Bulgarian sea resorts are all on the Black Sea.

During the Cold War, the only resorts worth mentioning in the former communist bloc were those found along the Black Sea. Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria all border the Black Sea, where a lot of resorts are located.

Some high-class Bulgarian sea resorts include Albena, Golden Sands, Sunny Beach, Duni and the local Riviera holiday club. With warm waters from June to September, vacationers from all over Eastern Europe and the former Russian republics congregate on the Bulgarian Black Sea resorts. Since Bulgaria is still relatively off the beaten path, these resorts offer a cheaper alternative to Mediterranean tourist spots. It has become fairly common for other Europeans, like the Swiss, Germans and Austrians, as well as Czech, Slovak and Polish tourists to take their vacations in Bulgarian sea resorts.

Time will tell if these resorts will catch on, or if travelling to Bulgaria would be as expensive as having a vacation along the Mediterranean, but for now this Eastern European country still offers an affordable alternative.
